Library of Sayyid Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Busaidi

- It is classified as an Omani private library. It was officially opened in 1986, and located in Al-Seeb in the Governorate of Muscat. The library is currently under supervision of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science. - The library is one of the largest Omani libraries. It is sought by researchers, higher studies students to help them in their research. It is worth mentioning that His Excellency Sayyid Mohammed – May he rests in peace – equipped it with best manuscripts and printed sources, by which His Excellency’s life is reflected. Each manuscript or printed document is linked with a story and rich details describing his journey to obtaining them. - This cultural landmark, which is visited one day by His Majesty the Sultan, contains historical treasures, documents, manuscripts, coins and artefacts aiming to preserve the Sultanate’s historical heritance.   Manuscripts Section: This section is the spotlight and the diamond of the library. It contains more than four thousand manuscripts in various fields; like, Islamic sciences, Arabic, philosophy, history, public knowledge, poetry, encyclopedias, chemistry, languages, medicine and astronomy. These manuscripts are dated back to the Sixth century, some of which are as follows: - Manuscript: the holy Qur’an in the tenth know redouts, copied by Abdullah bin Bashir Al Hadhrami Al Suhari. The book was copied in 1159 Hijri. - Datum of Abu Baker, copied in (740 Hijri year), and it was authored by Abi Al Fadhul Ismaeil bin Omar AL Ansari. The library is the most rich Omani library with dictionaries of Islamic sciences (Shari’ah).   Printed Books Section: The library contains almost seven thousand books in different knowledge fields and sciences, some of which are rare and very significant. Documents Section: The library is rich with historical documents representing different eras of Oman’s history starting from Al Busaid State dated to the 18th century. The most significant documents are as follows: Historical documents from Zenzibar. Documents of Imam Salim bin Rashid Al Kharusi Messages if Imams sent to their representatives and governors. Correspondences and some answers of the scholar Sheikh Salim bin Hamad Al Harthi. Correspondences of Saiyyedah Salma bint Said   Artefacts and Archeological Exhibits Section: The library includes different exhibits representing the Sultanate’s pioneering role throughout various eras. These exhibits include photographic and historical portraits of old castles and forts; in addition to, silver daggers, swords, rifles, shields, jewelry in different shapes, clay plots and Chinese ceramics. Audiovisual CDs 9religious, cultural, historical and national).   Thor role of the library in reviewing and printing manuscripts: The library exerted many efforts in publishing and printing many books with more than sixty titles, some of which are: - Easy interpretation of the Holy Quran (3 parts). - Happy horizon in History of Imam Ahmed bin Said. - Different compilations of poetry. The Library and Its Significance on the International Level: The library has significant status due to its manuscripts and knowledge treasures. It became as an important station for scholars from across the globe (America, Europe and Euro Asia, China, Algeria, Libya and Morocco)
