While participants are competing in the second annual graphic design exhibition, the winners came as follows; Mr. Yusuf Mohammed Al Balushi was awarded the first-place prize, Yaser Ali Al Dhunki awarded the second-place prize, Mr. Mohammed Suliman Al Harthi awarded the third-place prize. The award this year was listed under the theme: “Representing the Omani intellectual and tangible heritage, and Islamic heritage to reflect the Omani Identity”.
The artworks were selected by an arbitration committee and consisting of; Dr. Suliman bin Amer Al Hajri – Sultan Qaboos university, Mr. Muneir Masood Al Sulimani – Head of Education Section at the Sultan Qaboos University and Miss. Sarah Mustafa Kamel – Professor at Al Zahra College. A number of artists attended the event and graphic designers representing different entitles. In addition to that, Miss. Mariyam Al Zidjali – Director of the Omani Fine Arts Society- delivered an opening speech stating: “The exhibition is an opportunity for interested artists to reflect their talents, ideas and expertise. Although graphic design as an educational major is relatively new in the Sultanate, our new generation siblings have mastered it well through utilizing digital application, to reflect their ideas, messages and expectations to the audience.
The director of the Omani Fine Arts Society pointed out that the exhibition title has change from “The Annual Graphic Design Exhibition” to the “Digital Arts Exhibition”. The exhibition includes a collection of artworks in fields of; “advertisement posters design, digital photography, cartoons, digital calligraphy and printed letters”. It worth mentioning that organizing such exhibition contribute to developing youth talents in the field of fine arts in Oman, represent a chance for artists to interact with their counterparts and receive comments from audience.
