The aim of the declaration of the Omani Society of Fine Arts

  • Amidst  the Sultanate's celebrations of the youth year in 1993, Higher commands from His Majesty the Sultan -may Allah protect him- declared the Omani Society for Fine Arts, to be the house that shields the Omani artist under its roof.
  • From this standpoint, the Society began to intensify its efforts and activities to create the right environment and provide financial and moral support for the Omani artist to assume their role and leading position in the construction of the actual picture of Modern Fine and plastic arts in Oman in various fields such as painting, photography, oil painting, light photography, Arabic calligraphy, letter simulations, sculpting, arts and media, caricature, graphic design, printing and carving ... And others.
  • Even since it was formed, the Omani Society for Fine Arts has come a long way. It activated and stimulated the Omani fine arts movement, improved it and then highlighted the true level of plastic artists.
  • In this regard, the headquarters and branches of the Omani Society for Fine Arts have opened in Dhofar Governorate in 2000, and Buraimi in 2009.

Ongoing efforts by the Society across multiple stages and different levels were made. They also were and still are extending to include regular exhibitions, events, training seminars and the issuance of specialized brochures as well as providing the necessary support for Omani artists who have succeeded in achieving major positions in Fine Arts in addition to supporting and training young amateurs and honing their talents. Not to forget the society’s prestige and good reputation in the eyes of its counterparts from associations to institutions involved in visual arts in many Arab, regional and international countries. Moreover, through the bonds of cooperation and communication in these institutions and the effective presence of the Society and members, namely the Omani artists who were engaged in various artistic fields in foreign forums and exhibitions such as biennials and international competitions. Those translate the supreme directives aiming at paving the artists’ ways beyond all borders.
