Directorate of Mosques and Religious Awqaf

The Directorate exercises the following functions and competences:

• Managing and attending to the mosques, grand mosques and religious endowments of the Sultan Qaboos Center for Islamic Culture;
• Developing periodic reports on the progress of work at the Centers mosques, grand mosques and religious endowments, in line with the adopted general policy and restrictions by applicable financial and administrative laws, regulations and directives;
• Preparing for the meetings of the Investment Committee for Royal Mosque and Grand Mosque Religious Endowments, developing meeting minutes and implementing their decisions;
• Coordinating with competent DRC actors to provide and appoint imams and cadres needed for the Center;s mosques and grand mosques;
• Monitoring and developing periodic reports on the performance of the staff of the Centers mosques, grand mosques and religious endowments;
• Developing the (financial and religious) operational needs of new mosques and grand mosques;
• Supervising the progress of work at and monitoring the staff of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque;
• All other tasks assigned to the Directorate in the scope of its competence.
